Editorial Board Policy

Editorial Governance and Leadership

The Indian Journal of Engineering and Technology (IJET), published by PhD Kro, India, is committed to establishing and maintaining a qualified, independent, and academically responsible Editorial Board representing relevant areas of engineering, technology, applied sciences, and interdisciplinary research. The Editorial Board is responsible for safeguarding the scholarly quality, scientific integrity, editorial independence, and academic credibility of the journal. Its members contribute to manuscript evaluation, peer review oversight, editorial policy development, research ethics, and the advancement of the journal’s academic objectives. Editorial appointments are based on demonstrated subject expertise, scholarly qualifications, research experience, professional integrity, and the ability to fulfil assigned editorial responsibilities.

Editorial Board Structure

The journal’s editorial governance framework provides for the following positions, subject to formal appointment:

Editor-in-Chief: Provides overall academic leadership, oversees editorial standards, supervises manuscript evaluation and peer review processes, manages significant ethical concerns, and exercises final editorial authority in accordance with journal policies.

Managing Editor: Coordinates editorial operations, manuscript processing, communications, review timelines, documentation, and the implementation of editorial procedures under the supervision of the Editor-in-Chief.

Associate Editors: Support manuscript evaluation and editorial decision-making within their respective areas of expertise, recommend suitable reviewers, assess review reports, and maintain academic standards.

Section Editors: Provide subject-specific editorial oversight in areas such as Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Materials Science, Environmental Engineering, and other relevant technological disciplines.

Editorial Board Members: Contribute scholarly expertise, advise on research quality and editorial development, support ethical peer review, and participate in editorial activities appropriate to their assigned responsibilities.

The journal may appoint additional subject specialists or advisory members where justified by its academic scope. Advisory membership does not automatically confer authority to make manuscript acceptance decisions.

Appointment, Eligibility and Verification

Editorial Board appointments shall be made through a documented selection and verification process. Prospective members must possess relevant academic qualifications, demonstrable research expertise, appropriate scholarly credentials, and a professional record consistent with the responsibilities of the proposed position. Before publicly listing an individual as an Editorial Board member, the journal shall obtain their explicit acceptance of the appointment and confirmation of their willingness to undertake the designated responsibilities.

The journal shall verify each appointed member’s full name, academic designation, department, institutional affiliation, country, institutional contact information, and relevant academic expertise through reliable institutional or professional sources. An invitation, recommendation, or expression of interest alone shall not constitute formal Editorial Board membership. Each appointment shall be documented with the member’s assigned role, effective date, appointment term, and applicable responsibilities. Changes to appointments, affiliations, designations, or membership status shall be reflected in the journal’s official editorial records.

Editorial Board Composition and Academic Diversity

IJET seeks to maintain an editorial board comprising qualified academics, researchers, and engineering specialists whose collective expertise reflects the journal’s multidisciplinary scope. Board composition shall consider subject coverage, academic experience, institutional representation, geographical diversity, and the appropriate distribution of editorial responsibilities. Participation from different universities, research institutions, and engineering disciplines is encouraged to support balanced scholarly evaluation. Editorial diversity shall be based on genuine academic participation rather than nominal institutional representation. Members must have clearly defined responsibilities and the capacity to contribute meaningfully to the journal’s editorial activities.

Editorial Independence and Decision-Making

Editorial decisions shall be made independently and based on manuscript originality, technical accuracy, methodological rigour, scholarly relevance, research integrity, and the significance of the contribution to engineering and technological knowledge. The Editor-in-Chief and authorized academic editors shall exercise editorial judgment without inappropriate commercial, institutional, political, or personal influence.

PhD Kro, as publisher, shall provide administrative, operational, and technical support while respecting the academic independence of editorial evaluation and manuscript decisions. Publication charges, sponsorship, advertising arrangements, institutional relationships, and personal affiliations shall not influence the acceptance or rejection of manuscripts.

Conflict of Interest Management

All Editorial Board members must disclose actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest that could compromise the independence or impartiality of editorial evaluation.

Editors shall not supervise the editorial assessment of their own manuscripts or submissions involving close collaborators, family members, direct academic supervisees, or other relationships that may materially affect impartiality. Where a conflict exists, the manuscript shall be reassigned to an appropriately qualified, independent editor. An editor submitting a manuscript to IJET shall receive no preferential treatment, and the submission shall undergo the same applicable editorial and peer review requirements as other manuscripts.

Editorial Board members shall maintain the confidentiality of unpublished manuscripts, reviewer identities where protected by the review model, editorial correspondence, and other confidential information obtained through their responsibilities.

Editorial Responsibilities and Accountability

Editorial Board members are expected to contribute responsibly to the maintenance and improvement of the journal’s scholarly standards. Their responsibilities may include evaluating manuscript suitability, recommending independent reviewers, assessing technical and methodological quality, identifying ethical concerns, advising on editorial policies, and supporting the journal’s academic development.

Members must observe applicable publication ethics requirements, protect confidential information, avoid inappropriate use of unpublished research, and conduct editorial activities with fairness, professionalism, and academic integrity. Editorial authority shall be delegated only to individuals formally authorized to exercise it. The Editor-in-Chief retains responsibility for ensuring that editorial decisions follow documented journal procedures.

Appointment Terms, Review and Changes

Editorial appointments shall operate under documented terms specifying the member’s role, responsibilities, duration of service, and applicable renewal or termination arrangements. The publisher and editorial leadership shall periodically review membership records to ensure that affiliations remain accurate, appointments remain valid, and the Editorial Board continues to represent the journal’s disciplinary scope.

Members may resign from their appointments through written communication. Appointments may also be discontinued following a documented review of prolonged inactivity, serious conflicts of interest, misrepresentation of credentials, breaches of confidentiality, or violations of applicable editorial and publication ethics requirements. Any decision to terminate an appointment shall be handled fairly, with appropriate documentation and an opportunity for the individual to respond where warranted. Changes in editorial membership shall be recorded with their effective dates. Former members shall not continue to be represented as current members after the completion or termination of their appointments.

Transparency and Public Disclosure

IJET shall maintain an accessible Editorial Board directory on its official website. The directory shall identify individuals who have formally accepted their appointments and whose academic details have been verified.

Public editorial profiles shall include the member’s full name, academic designation, department, institutional affiliation, city, country, and other appropriate professional information. Verified institutional contact details and institutional profile links shall be maintained in accordance with applicable requirements and publication arrangements. Editorial positions shall not be advertised as filled until the appointment has been formally confirmed. The journal shall distinguish active Editorial Board members from invited candidates, former members, external reviewers, and advisory contributors. Membership details shall be reviewed and updated as changes occur.

Editorial Complaints and Ethical Concerns

Concerns regarding editorial conduct, conflicts of interest, manuscript handling, inappropriate editorial influence, or possible violations of publication ethics may be referred to the Editor-in-Chief or the publisher. Complaints involving an editor shall be handled by an appropriately independent individual who is not implicated in the matter. Concerns involving the Editor-in-Chief shall be referred to the publisher for appropriate independent assessment.

Complaints shall be considered fairly, confidentially where appropriate, and through documented procedures. Corrective action may include reassignment of editorial responsibility, investigation, amendment of editorial records, or other measures proportionate to the findings.

Policy Administration

The Editorial Board Policy forms part of the journal’s overall governance and research integrity framework. Its provisions should be read together with the journal’s Peer Review Policy, Publication Ethics Policy, Conflict of Interest Policy, and Corrections and Retractions Policy. The policy shall be reviewed periodically to reflect developments in scholarly publishing practices, journal operations, and applicable ethical requirements.
