Artificial Intelligence (AI) Use Policy
General Principles
The Indian Journal of Engineering and Technology (IJET), published by PhD Kro, India, supports the responsible use of artificial intelligence in academic research and publishing. AI tools may assist scholarly work but cannot replace human judgment, originality, or research accountability.
AI Usage Guidelines
Permitted Use
Language correction, spelling, formatting, coding assistance, and other legitimate research support, subject to human verification.
Disclosure Required
Substantive AI assistance in writing, data analysis, research code, figures, or other scholarly content must be clearly disclosed.
Prohibited Practices
AI authorship, fabricated references, invented findings, misleading images, and unauthorized disclosure of confidential research.
Responsibilities of Authors
Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, citations, and ethical integrity of their manuscripts. AI tools cannot be credited as authors or co-authors. Substantive AI use must be declared, identifying the tool and its purpose. Routine spelling, grammar, and formatting assistance does not normally require disclosure.
Responsibilities of Editors and Reviewers
Editors and reviewers must protect manuscript confidentiality and exercise independent academic judgment. Unpublished manuscripts, review reports, or confidential research data must not be uploaded to external AI systems without explicit journal approval and appropriate privacy safeguards. AI-generated assessments cannot substitute for expert peer review or editorial decisions.
AI Disclosure Workflow
AI Use Declaration
Authors must identify the AI tool, explain its purpose, and describe its substantive contribution. Any AI use forming part of the research methodology should also be reported in sufficient detail to support evaluation and reproducibility.
The authors used [AI tool name] for [specific purpose]. The resulting material was reviewed and verified by the authors, who take full responsibility for the manuscript.
Misuse and Editorial Action
Undisclosed substantive AI use, fabricated research, or deceptive AI-generated material may result in clarification requests, revision, rejection, or appropriate post-publication action. Suspected misuse will be assessed on available evidence; AI-detection scores alone are not proof of misconduct. Authors will have a reasonable opportunity to respond.
